Different states have varying regulations, which might include forms to submit or specific procedures to follow. Make sure you’re familiar with these guidelines.
Here you can view the homeschool laws in your state.
Your Role as the “School” or “Homeschool”
By using our service, you take on the role of both the school and the teacher. This means you’re responsible for overseeing your child’s education, providing teaching guidance, and ensuring you comply with all applicable laws, policies, and procedures set by your state or local school district for homeschooling.
Handling Homeschool Processes
If your state or school district requires any documentation or procedures for homeschooling, it’s your responsibility to manage these processes. This could involve submitting necessary forms or notifying relevant authorities about your decision to homeschool.
Using Discovery K12 Curriculum

If your child was previously enrolled in a traditional school, it’s your responsibility to officially withdraw them from that institution. This ensures a smooth transition to homeschooling.
Previewing Curriculum
While we strive to offer high-quality and appropriate curriculum materials, it’s your responsibility to review the curriculum before your child uses it. This allows you to ensure that the content aligns with your values and educational standards.
Transcripts and Diplomas
As the homeschooling parent, you are responsible for creating official transcripts that detail your child’s course grades. If your child completes their homeschooling journey up to twelfth grade, you’re also responsible for issuing their diploma. We offer an optional Parent/Teacher Account with tools for creating transcripts and diplomas, or you can use other methods to produce these documents.
