How to Tell Time: A clock is a device used to tell the time. The clock is one of the oldest human inventions. There are 24 hours in a full day. Each new day begins at 12:00 A.M. During this time you are normally sleeping, and it is in the middle of the night even though a new day has begun on the clock. Clocks have numbers on them from 1 to 12 that represent the hour. There are 60 minutes in each hour. There are 60 small lines going around the edge of the clock representing each minute of an hour. The clocks above have two lines with arrows pointing to parts of the clock. The shorter line points to the hour, and the longer line points to the minutes.

  1. Ask and answer questions with your teacher about the parts of the clock
