Project Description
A meteorologist are scientists that study the weather. They use a variety of information, equipment, and technologies to study the atmosphere. A meteorologist can take one look at a satellite images to forecast the weather. In this activity, you’ll learn how to interpret weather patterns from satellite images and forecast the weather for your area. For extra fun, you can video yourself acting as a weather reporter giving your forecast for the weekend!

2. Read through the 12 slides on this page to learn about weather and how to understand the satellite images: Satellite Meteorology Overview
3. Each day this week, use one of these resources below or watch your local new to view and analyze the weather satellite images for your area. Save or take pictures of each day’s satellite images, and paste them on the back of the Investigative Worksheet along with the date and any other notes.

  • 4. Based on what you learned in Step number 2 above, write a weather forecast for the weekend based on your findings.
